The smell of freshly baked waffles evokes nostalgic childhood memories for many people. In "Belgian Waffles and Other Treats" the author, Jan Gheysens, outlines the history and origins of this confection through the eyes of the Consael family, who run Etablissement MAX in Ghent. With the help of the fine archive pictures you can follow the interesting evolution of a simple waffle stall to today"s temple of heavenly delights. The recipes for waffles have been handed down from generation to generation and they are still the firm"s best advertisement.
