Originally published in 1926 in three volumes that are now extremely rare, the high quality photographs in this book show the 96 rooms furnished for the Exhibition. All the plates from the original volumes are reproduced in duotone, with new and highly detailed documentary captions by Charlotte Benton, identifying designers, architects and decorators. The fascination of the illustrations lies not only in the rooms themselves, but in all aspects of the furnishings used. By the stringent entry criteria of the Exhibition all the entries had to show new inspiration and real originality. They are a treasure trove of original Art Deco features including carpets, lighting, wall hangings and, of course, classic quality furniture of the period.
This volume is far more than a simple reprint. The critical commentary in the introduction and captions will inspire designers and provide accurate contemporary information on authentic Art Deco furniture and furnishings from one of the most brilliant epochs of design history. 96 b/w illustrations
